RS485 connections

The Grant R32 heat pump has factory fitted RS485 communication capability. 

In the Grant outdoor unit make the following RS485 Modbus connections:

Guidance

  • Connect both screened drain wires together, insulate and carefully locate it at the edge of the PCB to reduce the chance of a short-circuit. Do NOT use the Grant RS485 GND connection for this purpose

Immersion connections

For Passiv Smart Thermostat to control the anti-legionella cycle it is necessary to connect the immersion element via a suitably rated contactor. The contractor is energised by the Grant heat pump using mains rated cabling. 

DO NOT connect the immersion element directly to these heat pump terminals.
