Thermostat associated with wrong heating zone
If an installed system is sending heat to the wrong zone (e.g. upstairs when it should be downstairs or vice versa), then this means the Thermostats have been either wired or commissioned incorrectly. The simplest way of managing this is by swapping around the Thermostats. This is easily done by the householder in the case of wireless Thermostats. The householder can also do this with wired Thermostats, but the process is a bit trickier.
If the home has wireless Thermostats, press firmly on the top of the Thermostat and lift off the bottom edge to detach it from the backplate. To reattach the Thermostats, hook on the top edge, and press firmly on the bottom edge.
If the home has wired Thermostats, find the two, screwdriver sized slots on the underside of the Thermostat. Gently insert a flathead screwdriver into each slot and twist until the Thermostat clicks off the backplate. To reattach the Thermostats, hook on the top edge, and press firmly on the bottom edge.
Check the Thermostats are now heating the correct zones, either using the Thermostats themselves of the Passiv app.
If you want to fix the problem while keeping heating zone 1 and 2 consistent with the current Thermostat placement, you will need to do one of the following:
Recommissioning the system
- Go to the Programmer and open the installer menu by holding down the 'up' and 'down' buttons.
- Select 'Rerun commissioning'.
- Go through the commissioning process until you reach 'Pairing thermostats'.
- At each Thermostat, make sure that the zone number on the Thermostat matches the valve settings. As the zoning was incorrect before, this likely means that zone numbers '1' and '2' should be swapped.
- Finish the commissioning process.
- Check that the zones are now set up correctly by raising the temperature on each Thermostat in turn.
Rewiring the valves
To rewire the heating zone valves, first remove the wiring centre cover from the Programmer and make sure that the Programmer has been depowered before removing any other cables.
Locate the 'Zone 1 relay' and 'Zone 2 relay' sections of the wiring centre using the guide on the backside of the Programmer cover. [For more information, visit Programmer wiring.] Swap out each wire in either section for the corresponding wire in the other section. Repower the Programmer and return the cover. Test the zone wiring is now correct using each Thermostat.
